Home-stay (long post~)

The weekend after Japan, my friend, Bernadette, and I did a weekend home-stay with a Korean couple.

I felt like all I did was eat the whole weekend >~<'

We got there late Friday night, and they fed us supper~

So much food..

(below is their certificate on the wall)

Everything was so cute :3

Our room~

They gave us each a hanbok-style apron :3

A late-night snack (some of the cake we gave to them as a gift)

Saturday's breakfast (we overslept......)

Afterwards, we had some oranges in the little sitting room adjoining our bedroom~

Then we took off for a brief hike near their home..

Our host father enjoyed taking pictures :3

(pesky pigeon)

The park had a cute little fitness area~

And an archery park.

(host parents)

We went out for a big lunch, where they literally ordered every main dish for us x___x plus alcohol XD

Then we went back home ^_^

Their pretty living room~

Later we sat outside for some tea ^~^

That night we had spicy pork for supper~

And more alcohol..........

Sunday's breakfast.....more food OTL

Our host mother made 설렁탕, Bernadette's favourite soup~

And she got me to try on a hanbok >_<"

After breakfast, we went to Namsan Tower~

A host brother~

We toured both of the teddy bear museums together :D

(creepy bear)

The heart is cute :3

After Namsan, we went through Myeongdong, where we ate ttongatsu (my favourite) and toured the cathedral.

We left Sunday evening, as we had school the next day..

Oh yes, and there were lots of Korean Air items around the house. Apparently our host father was a pilot for Korean Air and had retired just a month before our visit (we were their first students!)
He and his wife/family have visited many different places around the world. The host father even spoke some Spanish, and we talked a bit with him in Spanish XD

As for communication over the weekend, the father spoke a little bit of English, and one of the sons (who graduated from Yonsei University) spoke English.
Our lovely little host mother didn't know any English, but we still tried to talk to her in our limited Korean :3

    1. Hi, actually my CIEE program (CIEE) set everything up for us (ie, they located the homestay program and paid for us). But I do know that they went through Korea Tourism Organization's Koreastay link here~ :)
