Yon-Ko Jeon!

Last weekend we had Yon-Ko Jeon. Yon-Ko Jeon consists of several sports competitions between Yonsei University and our rival school, Korea University.

On Saturday, I went to the opening ceremony, watched the baseball game, and went to the basketball game.

Our cheerleaders are so cute ^o^

Afterwards, I went out with a big group for supper (barbecue and soju). After that - the group felt we needed more alcohol, haha - we went to another restaurant to drink and play more games. When we were done there, most of us went back to Sinchon. In Sinchon, we ate some more, found a waffle stand, later located some cheap Smirnoff and soju, and ended up at Barfly (a popular place for Yonsei students, it seems.) It was a fun night~

The next day, I attended the rugby game, soccer match, and closing ceremonies.

Of all the games I watched, Yonsei only won one, the baseball game. I learned, however, that the winner of Yon-Ko Jeon isn't that important to either side. It's all about jeong and just bonding with your fellow students.

During every game, cheering takes place the whole time. It was weird at first to us Westerners. We're used to going to a game and actually watching the players. We're so used to paying attention to what happens, and only cheering when things go well. At YonKo, the cheering and dancing and singing with the people around you is constant, and many people had no idea what was actually going on in the game. The group mentality and group bonding is so strong in Korea; I like it.

Also, since we heard the same songs continuously for two days, our school cheers haunted my head for days x_____x
